Kai's parents have been kidnapped by Krux and Acronix but Kai doesn't know it yet since Krux is disguised as Kai's father Ray. Krux has made Kai and Nya believe that he really is their father.

(Takes place after season 6) The ninja figured out that the people of ninjago city hate them even after what they've done to protect them. Zane especially is angry he sacrificed himself for the people and they still treat them like garbage. Lloyd,the leader of the group decided that they wouldn't be nice and become the villains.
