Eve is neglected by the family, and she is basically only alive because Alcott takes care of her. Alcott and Eve decide to run away one day to get away from their lives. They are taken in by two men who force Alcott to work and sell himself and give them the cash for rent. Eve doesn't understand what Alcott has been doing for her.
