Mavis lives in a world where she would much rather spend her days at school then at home. She hates to face her father and spends most her nights sneaking in-not out. She hates how her body is covered in yellowing bruises. She hates the looks her family gives her, while they smack away her comments. So, she does what any hurting person would do. She runs away and ends up in the lesser part of town-far away from her horrible family. But she ends up in a new world, one with drugs and wild gangs. She ends up slamming into the walls of an underground fighting ring-with no idea what to do. That's until Mavis almost gets run over by Caden, one of the best teen underground fighters there is. He purposes an offer-she can stay at his house, but only if she helps work the circuit. Talk him up, chat about strategies, and figure out if theirs a grand plan worked out for him. It's simple, it's easy, and it helps keep her covered. But a new house can't cover her bruises.
