Astray: Going against fate

The Libero family has been afflicted by a terrible disgrace ever since its very first members received that name; the premature death of every male member, seemingly in exchange for being born with incredibly high capabilities or physical prowess, and the unnaturally long lifespans of female members in exchange for a really frail physical constitution and a high aptitude for getting diseases and health problems of all kind.

It is still unknown after who knows how long wether it's because of a genetic pathology, a curse, or some sort of divine punishment, but what is known is that it gets worse with every new generation, to the point where the male members have to start concieving children as soon as they reach puberty in order to keep having 3 generations at a time, whereas some female members not only have an average lifespan of at least 2 centuries, but live that long even when constantly on the brink of death. What's also known is that the Libero Condition, as it was named, gets passed down to any non family member who either has their offspring or partakes in regular sexual interactions with one.

One Libero, Diego, however refused to accept this fate, and has made it his mission to find a cure to the plague affecting his lineage no matter how much he has to travel and search, how hard he has to study, or how high of a price he'll have to pay. One thing's for certain, he won't give up easily
