Ending an abusive relationship after finding out she was pregnant as a teenager (with her abuser's baby), Phoebe Swan couldn't imagine her life becoming any more terrifying than it already was.
Well, until her sister's boyfriend's brother charged at Bella, hungered for her blood in the same way a feral dog yearned for a slab of meat dangling before its face. Really, Phoebe had thought she must have been insane and hallucinating the whole thing. Once Bella brought her younger sister home and explained everything, Phoebe had no choice but to go with it.
The Cullens leaving Forks three days after the birthday party, Phoebe would be lying if she'd said she wasn't relieved. She really didn't want to deal with a teen pregnancy and vampires creeping around the corner.
That turned out to be another thing that changed, however. Because after Victoria showed up in Forks, initially seeking out Bella, Phoebe decided vampires weren't so bad after all.
