He tortured her all of high school. Pulling all of the classic pranks and jokes on her (the school nerd). He hated her. Everything about her. He hated high school even if he was a jock and popular. He hated high school and all of the social rules. Most of all though he hated her. He loved how university was going, the new people and everything. I don't look at him; my head is hung low once again. "When I'm talking, you need to look at me!" he shouts, lifting my chin so I have to meet his gaze. I look at him, but it's not with innocence; it's with anger. "Oh, look, Emma's angry, everyone!" he mocks. "Just leave me alone," I say, meeting his eyes as I pull my arm free from his grip and walk away. He stares at me, shocked, as do all the kids around us, not expecting what I just did.
