"Okay, I've been letting you slide long enough, Aya. He threw his hands up, frustration tightening his voice. "Why are you so angry at me? What did I do was so bad for you to not even look at me?!" The way he raised his voice made my chest tighten. I know I've been rude to him but I wasn't used to him yelling at me. I wasn't prepared for how much it hurt. "Do you even remember what happened in high school?" I looked up blinking back tears. Yusuf rubbed his beard trying to remember but got nothing. He frowned as he shook his head. "High school was a blur," he murmured. "After my parents died, I don't quite remember much and what I did in the past." He explained, so quietly that I almost didn't hear him. "Let me refresh your memory, you know your friends Joe and Alex? They used to picked on me, made fun of my weight, push me against the lockers, and calling me names. And what did you do?" I turned around, back facing him, as tears stream down my face. I didn't want him to see me cry. I couldn't. "You just laugh, as if it's the funniest thing in world, as if I was a joke to you! You didn't stop them, not even once." My voice cracked as I wiped away my tears. Yusuf was speechless, he didn't know what to say. I didn't expect him to. I just wanted him to know how much pain I was in ever since the day he walked back to my life. Aya Rayaan is a 20 year old girl who is in university and trying to be close to her deen. She got bullied for her weight when she was younger and one of the guys was Yusuf Abbas. Yusuf Abbas is a 22 years old and is an orphan. His parents died in a fire and he's been drifting ever since. When he moves in with Aya's family, unaware of their shared history, Aya is forced to confront the pain she thought she buried. He doesn't remember her but she remembered everything. As their paths cross again, will the past drive them further apart? Or bring about a chance for healing, forgiveness, and unexpected growth?

"...Don't show that you cared about my happiness, when you actually didn't. I doubt if you ever truly did care." I whispered the last part menacingly at him, clenching my jaw as my eyes filled with tears. The way his face hardened and his eyes dilated, I assumed he heard me as a muscle in his jaw ticked. I lowered my pointing finger and wiped my tears furiously from the back of my hand, looking away. "It's good that you got to know about everything before this marriage facade got out of our hands. Now, you'll realize that you never had any feelings for me and it was just an infatuation." He scoffed, looking away. His adam's apple bobbed as his veins popped out lividly. "Don't you dare insult my love, Wali! My love for you was so pure. You know what? You don't even deserve it." I told him, swallowing the lump in my throat. My voice came out harsh as my breath grew thin and ragged. I tried to control myself, reminding there were people in this house. Ya Allah, who was this man standing in front of me? ----- Meet Wali Rehman Khan and Aleyha Shaikh. They both grew up together, they were cousins by fate but best friends by choice. Wali had always been overprotective of her and deeply cares for her, fulfilling her every demand. She thought he loves her the way she loves him but how can he love when he hates even the thought of love? She had believed he would always be there for her but how wrong she was! He left and was back after five painful years. She no longer was the same teenager he last saw or knew, she had changed and changed for good. But still, around him, she didn't know how to feel. She tried but her heart was no longer in her control and she paid a heavy cost due to that. Was the payment worth it? Was it all along Allah's plan? -------------
