The sound of her agony drives me forward, stumbling between rusted-out school buses, their windows shattered like broken memories. Metal groans in the wind, and I'm soaked in sweat, shouting her name into the dark.
No answer. Just another scream-shattered, raw-like someone being torn apart from the inside out.
I run faster. The graveyard feels endless, a labyrinth of decaying buses and phantoms whispering my sins. My breath comes ragged, my legs burn, but I keep going.
