Y/N had spent years mourning the loss of her lover, Rambo, who had been declared missing in action during a military operation. The pain of not knowing his fate haunted her every day, and she had finally come to terms with the heartbreaking belief that he was gone forever. Her world was a gray, empty place without him.
After learning her lover may never return, Y/N finally moved away from her small town, where she moved back in with her dad after offering her a job in the sheriff's office.
One evening while at her new job, she was sorting through cases as usual, when her father push through the door. Her father was angrily holding a man roughly by the arm. As they walked to her, Y/N heart skipped a beat. Her breath caught in her throat as she peered through the people and saw a gaunt, disheveled figure. It took a moment for her eyes to adjust, but when they did, she gasped in shock. There, standing in handcuffs and barely recognizable, was Rambo.
Tears streamed down her face as she realized that her worst fears had been both confirmed and shattered. Rambo was alive, but he was missing all this time. The overwhelming mix of relief and anguish surged through her. Though Rambo was not the same man he was when he left.

I still don't know why you left and what lead you to the decision you made. What I do know is that we're here. We're alive and we're pushing forward to the future. A future that you're not a part of. The friends in this story are trying to make names for themselves, figure out who they are, who they can trust, how to love, and how to separate themselves from a restrictive community. "WHY CAN'T YOU GET IT INSIDE YOUR HEAD?" He trapped my trembling body between his arms and slammed his fist into the wall. I flinch at the sound as I feel tears forming in my eyes.
