The Hallucination Site

Something's off.
Clutching my head with a wince, I examine my surroundings, or what I can see of them. Apart from a few slivers of moonlight, it's pitch black. The silhouettes of long, skeletal trees stretch around me. I listen for crickets, but hear nothing. Just the low whistle of the wind.
I stand up and brush off my pants. My horribly torn pants. Looks like I had a few clashes with the undergrowth...but when?
When?
I snap to attention, my heart thrusting itself into my throat. I can't remember anything. Anything. It's like a sludge swept me up, rushing me away from my consciousness like a tsunami and leaving me stranded on an island.
A particularly dark island.
With no recollection of anything.
