In 1983, Yankee Stadium casts a shadow over the streets, the game of baseball is more than a sport. Mia's life remains far from the glitzy and upscale world of her brother Aaron Judge.
Growing up in the Bronx, Mia and Aaron have lived on the edge of poverty their whole lives.
With Aaron's rise to fame, Mia is hidden in the shadows of her older brother, seeking her own identity.
In Mia's story to forge a path of her own, she navigates life in the city, surrounded by the dangers of street gangs, sport's rivalries, and the struggle for power.
Anthony Volpe is beginning his first season with the Yankees as the team shortstop.
Caught in the grind of being the team rookie, Anthony begins the fight for his place on the team, facing expectations, internal pressures, and the new territory of being a Yankee. He finds himself seeking success, while also becoming intertwined with Mia, his team captains sister, causing the two to face cultural tensions and dangers between them.
In this new West Side Story-inspired fanfic, the Yankees team faces community conflicts where threats pose to their reputation, safety, and very existence, as gang rivalries, and growing social unrest in the Bronx collide with the pressures of fame and performance. As tensions rise, the players find themselves torn- making love, loyalty, and survival increasingly complicated in a world where the stakes are much higher than just a game.
