Still Us
After ending their engagement two years ago, Dijonai Carrington and Jai swore they'd never become one of those toxic ex-couples constantly breaking up and getting back together. Instead, they built something better - a peaceful co-parenting routine centered around their five-year-old twins, Jream and Jace. Between Dijonai's demanding life with the Chicago Sky and Jai's long shifts as a firefighter, they somehow make it work better apart than most couples do together.
At least that's what they keep telling themselves.
But no matter how hard they try to move on, every relationship they attempt falls apart the second the other person notices the undeniable pull between them. It's in the way Jai still shows up to every home game with the twins in matching jerseys. The way Dijonai still calls Jai first after every tough loss. The lingering touches. The inside jokes. The family dinners that feel a little too normal.
Everyone around them sees it - their teammates, Jai's firehouse crew, even their twins who constantly ask when Mommy and Mama are going to live together again.
As old feelings slowly begin taking root again, Dijonai and Jai are forced to confront the question they've spent years avoiding: did they really fall out of love... or were they just afraid of how much they still wanted each other?
