A Second Chance is all about how one guy turns his messed-up life around. Trevor Ballard didn't have the best start-his dad left, and his mom basically checked out, spending her days drinking. By the time he was a teenager, he was caught up in gang life, doing whatever it took to survive.
Everything comes crashing down when a robbery goes wrong, and Trevor finds himself facing serious jail time. But instead of locking him up, the judge gives him a shot at rehab. That's where he meets Carter, a tough ex-gang member who pushes Trevor to face his mistakes and do the hard work to change. It's not easy-his old life keeps pulling him back, and he feels lost at times. But with Carter's tough love and the support of Serena, a social worker who believes in him, Trevor starts to see a better future. He finds a passion for carpentry, builds real friendships, and even falls in love. Eventually, Trevor decides to use his story to help others. He and Carter start a program to mentor kids like him, showing them they don't have to stay stuck in the life they were born into. Let the story be told in this book you step into his shoes. With a vivid painted picture of the life of the struggle and the hustle to overcome it. When you throw rocks at the chain gang you eventually hit it. All the chances he took for the money to help his family could have gave him a life sentence. God stayed with him through it all. I guess he seen the better person he was supposed to be. Being in those chains away from civilization either makes you or break you. Boy when the doors opened the light shined in and aint no going back. This is a very heart felt true story if you like a good one turn a page and dig in
