"Substitutes" is a suspenseful speculative short story about a girl named Eliza who discovers that the people in her school have been replaced by aliens.

Eliza wakes up one morning with an eerie feeling and heads to Jefferson High, noticing strange behavior among her classmates and teachers. Everyone moves in unison and displays blank expressions. Being quick and resourceful, Starsis uses the almighty Crystal of Power to summon five young teens to recollect the shards, them having scattered across the multiverse after their recent use. That way, it'll be enough for him to work on an object that'll permanently seal his brother away. These five teens in particular have their own demons to conquer. They must do that, and worry about the villains out for the end of the entire multiverse.

So before anything is said, it is important to note that this story is a spin-off of CrystalScherer's upon wings of change. It is highly suggested that you read their story first before this one, but of course that is entirely up to you. Everyone knows about the government kidnapping people and using them in experiments that utilizes alien technology which transforms them into little dragonets. But what if there was more alien technology that was discovered elsewhere, technology which was quite different from that of the main project. It doesn't make sense. How is any of it possible? Where does the plot line link? Why care about some random teen aliens? Oh, God, why does it get dark so fast?
