Nineteen-year-old Maeve St. Vincent joins fellow aristocrats in the extravagant Ivory Game after striking a deal with a prince to stop one contestant from winning, but when her target ends up dead at the start of the game, Maeve and other ladies who have secrets of their own must fight for their innocence and their lives before the killer strikes again. *** After being kicked out of Queens University for the third time, aristocrat Maeve St. Vincent has no hope of going back. But when the surly and overbearing Prince Francis of Sutherland approaches her with a deal to enter the infamous Ivory Game where contestants outwit one another to become courtiers in the queen's court, she jumps at the chance, especially when he tells she can return to Queens and that her mission is to stop Claire Braxton from winning. Blythe Vandenberg is desperate to be a courtier to bring honor to her family. But when the game doesn't start well for her, and Claire Braxton ends up dead, she and her cousin Maeve become the center of everyone's suspicion. And when someone mysteriously sends her a message telling her that her dark secret is not so secret anymore, she fears for her reputation--and her life. Will she be able to maintain her composure under the pressure of the game and the watchful eye of her father's assistant, Logan Earle? Scarlett came to the Ivory Game with her mistress, but she also brought with her the woman's secrets. She's not allowed to talk to anyone above her station, but she unexpectedly gets the attention of William Cavendish, Marquess of Claymore, the last person she should associate with. But she cannot escape his charming personality and it might be too late when she finally learns his true reason for getting close to her. As the three ladies navigate a series of murders and mystery inside the Ivory House, their trust and loyalty are tested, and their secrets and motives revealed. Who to trust? Who to avoid? And who to love?

ONC Ambassador's Pick & Shortlister! Rumors. Infidelity. Lies. Secrets. MURDER. And all before lunch time. Who knew being a socialite in 1951 could be so thrilling? ~~~ On a lovely June afternoon, as the oh-so-chic members of the Gilded Grove Ladies' Book Club gather for their scheduled luncheon, they are shocked to receive the news that their vice president, Camilla Otis, is unable to attend. Gossip ensues. What catastrophe could possibly have befallen her to warrant a last minute cancellation? The answer comes by way of two clever, dashing police officers. It seems Camilla Otis has had quite a busy morning, and that the truth behind her absence is far more scandalous than the Book Club ladies could ever have imagined. As the police dig deeper into the events surrounding Mrs. Otis' shocking crime, buried secrets about the other Book Club members begin to surface. None of the women in question are the fine, upstanding ladies of society that the public believes them to be. Each has tarnish on her so-called "sterling reputation." And no one has more to hide than club president Marcella Montgomery. Written for ONC 2024, this is a tongue-in-cheek "whodunit" (in reverse) that will leave you wondering just what a scorned woman *wouldn't* do for sweet, sweet revenge. ⚠️ Warning: many very nonchalant references to murder and death. Very ignorant (era-realistic), inaccurate comments about nationalities/cultures outside the US.
