It started with an arranged marriage.
Apollo Zelinsky wasn't exactly thrilled about it, but then again, when your family's been pulling strings in Piltover for generations, you don't exactly get a say. His family made the deal with the Kirammans-Caitlyn Kiramman, to be specific. And, well, now they're supposed to get married. At 16. Which is... fine, right? Totally normal. Except Caitlyn wants absolutely nothing to do with it.
To her, this whole thing's just a political bitch move-some high-society chess game her family's dragging her into. She's 16, full of fire, and she'd rather be doing literally anything else than being married to a guy she doesn't even know.
Apollo? He's got his own problems. He doesn't hate Caitlyn, but he's pretty sure she's not exactly fond of him either. He was raised to play the game, not question it, and the political machinations of Piltover? Yeah, they don't exactly leave room for personal feelings. But even Apollo can't ignore the tension that comes when two people who don't want anything to do with each other are forced into the same room.
So, yeah, forced marriage. Check. Cold politeness. Double check. But somewhere between the tense dinners and awkward meetings, something starts to shift. It's not love-not yet, anyway-but it's something.
