Alastor hasn't been feeling... himself. I mean, his life was fine: his reputation was up to date, nobody hated him (well, the usual still did), and his days were going great. However, the inside of him says otherwise.
People, like Charlie, started to notice his strange tiredness, and how his reaction time was slower than before. They looked more on him, but a short anger fuse later came along, telling people to f#ck off. Nobody knew why he was like this. Not even Husker.
