It was only after it was too late that they learned the horrible purpose of this project, in which each of them and countless others were experimented upon. All four were completely altered, completely changed in ways they could not described, and each given a moniker to describe their new forms.

Liam as Herald, for his newfound ethereal wings.

Maya as Echo, for her overly enhanced hearing.

Jordan as Razorback, having been infused with the dna of a hog.

Sophie as Oracle, whose prophetic visions cause her no end of trauma.

But fortune has come in the form of a power outage, and now they're on the run. Their handlers will not allow them to share their misdeeds, but just as quickly the teens won't allow them to get away with what they've done. They know of the other bases, and they will find them. No one else, child or otherwise, will have to endure what they were forced to. A new star is rising the Grummverse in the form of four total strangers with hearts pure and spirits strong.

As an orphan, Emma Johnson never exactly believed in miracles or magic of any kind. Or even the proclaimed superheroes everyone loved. That all changed the fateful night when she was mugged and attacked. At that point in her life, she had come to the conclusion that she wouldn't amount to much, and as she lied half-conscious on the ground, she couldn't help but think that she deserved this kind of death.
