"You guys heard, you guys have seen, The resistance have lost a lot of good people. Find them and rally them together."

"But where are we supposed to go? Anywhere west from here is now part of this kingdom or worse, the south lies barren of ruins and raiders, the east lies unknown and the nort-"
She raised her hand at Impulse to stop.

"-Is where you'll find them" In a brief moment she turned back down towards the tunnel, almost running.

The west is all Impulse and Gem Knew, their world stuck in the rowdy life of their little resistence, now they must travel eastwards, in the dawn of a changing time and era. In the reawakening of Legends. In the tension before the war they sparked.

One, her group and fathers are the saviors of Oregon. Two, The Reaper's are not to be trusted. So when a mysterious stranger rescues her after a hunting trip gone wrong turns out to be none other than her mortal enemy she begins to wonder, are they all as bad as they seem? The death of Stephan has begun to deteriorate The Reaper's from the inside out. Infighting over who should be their next leader has created countless seasons of lacking supplies and structure. The only person who The Reaper's can put their hope into is Hawk, their new general, a powerful man willing to do anything to keep his group thriving. Hawk is torn between keeping his group safe and his own ambition, Aleu is tortured with a constricting life they hate and Phoenix wonders if she can truly trust her new acquaintances. Now the three must make a decision. When trying to repair a mysteriously obsidian-clogged conduit, Impulse suddenly sees what appears to be a shark. Confused, he swims closer to get a better look... oh no. That's not a shark. As the creature tightens its hold on the server, bringing more and more of the Hermits under its control, and Tango turns up scared and with a broken arm, the message starts to become apparent: Trust no one. Not even your friends. Especially not your friends. After all, that leaves you Playing Open-Handed. This book is a sequel to another of my stories, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, but you don't necessarily need to read that to understand most of what happens. Enjoy! --- Story by me Inspiration and characters from Hermitcraft Witty comments (but actually not the lore this time) with help from ausforyou (Okay, this time I'm gonna put a monologue from Henry V because why the hell not, nobody reads this far into the description anyway: Thus says my king to Harry of England: Though we seemed dead, we did but sleep. We could have rebuked you at Harfleur, but that we thought it not good to bruise an injury till it were full ripe. Therefore, consider of your ransom, which must proportion the losses we have borne, the subjects we have lost and the disgrace we have digested, which in weight to re-assess, England's pettiness would bow under. Indeed, your own person, kneeling at our feet, is but a weak and worthless satisfaction of our losses. To this, add defiance: you hath betrayed your followers, whose condemnation is pronounced. So much my king and master bids tell you, so much my office.)

They were born from the stars, but the world refuses to let them stay. It has been three years since the Genesis Flares, the solar phenomenon that gave birth to Astrans: beings with abilities beyond human comprehension. Some see them as miracles, others as abominations but to those in power, they are a threat that must be controlled, exploited, or eradicated. Fear spreads like wildfire, and war is inevitable. Among the displaced and the hunted, a survivor fights to carve out a future for her people, refusing to let them be erased from history. By her side stands the one who saved her, a sister in all but blood, a friend who has vowed to protect her, even if it means keeping dangerous secrets. As alliances fracture and loyalties are tested, they must navigate a world that has already decided what they are: enemies. In the heart of the conflict, two minds once dedicated to progress now wrestle with the weight of their own creations. One, a scientist bound by failing health, seeks to undo the greatest mistake of his life before time runs out. The other, an engineer thrust unwillingly into war, struggles between duty, regret, and the burden of being the only one left to fight. Lines blur between vengeance and justice, survival and sacrifice. The choices they make will determine not only the outcome of the war but the future of the Astrans themselves. Before the war, before the fear, they were all the same. They were all stardust once.
