Not only is she new in the area, but she's a human? Or is she something other than what the others were?
Calliana only knew her brother when she welcomed herself into his home for who knows how long. The last thing she expected to happen, happened.
How will Cameron react to a stranger in his home? In his town?
(Sneak peak!)
As soon as I opened the door, I see his fist about to go against it.
"Oh.", My eyes widen and I instantly smile softly, his face causing some reaction in me.
"Hello ma'am you ordered this?", his eyes holding some kind of softness to them, drawing me in.
He stood there with the hat on crooked, you could tell he just threw it on, his height was making me look up at him, and the small smile on his face just made my heart beat faster than it was already.
"Y-yes! Sorry- Well technically Alec did but- yes it's mine...", The embarrassment that flooded from my voice was hard to hide as I started heating up.
All the embarrassment left after hearing his laugh, and a bright smile afterwards. He reached forward with the drink in his hand. His hand brushing up against mine which left a type of warmth in the spot. His eyes held affection afterwards.
"Here you are..?", He left his hand on mine, still making eye contact with me, his purple orbs surrounding my green ones.
"Oh for Callie.", I took my hand back, and If I could tell, a sadness crossed his face and he nodded.
"Well then Callie, I'll see you around then?", I nod and make eye contact once again until I couldn't keep it anymore.
He takes a deep breath and turns around to head back to his car, next to the original doordasher.
As I'm stuck in a daze, I see him hand back the hat to the grumbling man and hear a growl? Wha-?
It seemed to break me out of the daze, "Hey wait!", I see his head flip back to me and his entire focus on me.
"W-what's your name?"
"Cameron."
BOOK 1 OF 3
-
"Violet." Harry's voice stops me in my tracks, a shiver snaking up my spine at the steady tone he always seems to carry.
I slowly turn back around to face him, our eyes meeting in the dark cab, the only light coming from a street lamp above the car.
"Are you al-" He starts to ask that same goddamn question.
"Don't." I cut him off. "Don't you ask me that again. Okay? I don't even know you." Harry doesn't say anything and lets me open the door to get out of the car.
"That cut wasn't there this morning." He states matter of factly.
"What?" I duck my head back down into the cab to look at him again.
"Em told me your story about how you split your lip." He looks deeply into my eyes and I'm suddenly self conscious about how attentively he's looking at me . "Unless I missed you sneaking off to play volleyball during work, that was not there before that pompous asshole boyfriend of yours showed up."
My mouth falls open slightly, not knowing what to say in response to him calling me out so blatantly. Nothing he's saying is accusatory toward me, he just obviously doesn't believe a single thing I've said. And he's right. They're all lies.
I shut the door in his face, my solution for not having a response. I turn around to walk toward my house, a little shaken by this interaction with a perfect stranger who saw right through my bullshit immediately. I hear Harry's car roar back to life as I attempt to unlock the front door with slightly trembling hands. The lack of sleep, drama with Johnny and the conversation I just had with Harry is proving to be too much for one day.
I finally unlock the door to push it open, and I turn my head to watch Harry speed off down my street and out of sight.
