Hajime Hinata is desperate for a fresh start after a messy breakup forces him to leave his old life behind. Searching for an affordable place, he stumbles upon a cramped, run-down apartment that comes with an unexpected twist-sharing it with a complete stranger, Nagito Komaeda.

Guided through the property by the eccentric landlord duo, Kaede and Shuichi, Hajime's red flags are overshadowed by the apartment's low rent. Despite his reservations about living with Nagito, who exudes a strange and unsettling energy, Hajime convinces himself it's the best he can do under the circumstances.
