Toska: (n.) a dull ache of the soul, a sick and pining, a spiritual anguish.

Group B, known as the Icers, was a stark contrast to the Gladers, consisting almost entirely of girls and set in a snowy, coniferous area they called The Spring. Their world was turned upside down when Aris, a boy, arrived. Suspicion surrounded him, with only Rachel seeing something in him that others couldn't. In a tense meeting, someone suggested abandoning him to the Shades, a grim fate. The final decision rested with Nilah, who, despite her mistrust, couldn't condemn him. Instead, they compromised by sending him to the other side of The Spring, a decision that left everyone uneasy.
