Aria Yeager is a 21 year old, promising new recruit straight out of training with her heart set on joining the Scout Regiment to defeat the Titans that killed her family. She's second in her training class, just below her best friend, Mika Ackerman. Her world is changed when in her and the other cadets are thrust into a battle with the Titans just before graduation and she awakes after being pulled out of a Titan she was handling.

She is face to face with the choice to die or join the Scouts under the surveillance and protection of the cynical Captain Levi, Humanity's Strongest Soldier. She is immediately intrigued by his dark and mysterious manner and is eager to learn from the man who inspired her to join the Scouts.

Levi is used to being on his own and losing every one he cares for. This causes him to guard his heart and prevent himself from becoming attached. This proves to be a challenge when Aria comes around. He feels an strong obligation to protect her and won't let anything stand in his way of defeating the Titans.
