Starting in a new high school mid fall semester of her junior year as well as working full time hours at the coffee shop her mother is trying to launch. However Laura ends up hanging out with a girl named Bridget and her two friends Heather and Jody and these three girls are up to no good, peer pressure to smoke and to drink alcohol at a party where there are no parents present. It is when three more wholesome and nicer girls from school Kimberly, Maggie and Sophie land a job at the coffee shop is when Laura realizes who her true friends are. Then one night tragedy strikes, which shakes up Laura's world once again. But like they say when one door closes in life another one will always open.
