In a traveling circus renowned for its bizarre and grotesque human oddities, Iris is one of the most popular attractions. With the head of a woman and the body of a lizard with webbed feet and hands, along with a strange, glowing mark on her skin that shifts in color with her emotions, Iris has been told her monstrous appearance is a gift.
But as Iris grows older and more self-aware, she begins to question the true nature of her fame. The other oddities in the circus-human-shaped beings with animal limbs, scales, and deformities-are all trapped in a twisted spectacle for the amusement of the paying crowd. As Iris spends time with her fellow performers, she starts to see that they are not celebrated for their uniqueness, but used as a source of entertainment for the morbidly curious. Each of them has been manipulated into believing their differences make them worthy, but Iris realizes they are just prisoners in a never-ending show.
The deeper Iris digs into her own origins, the more disturbing the truth becomes. She wasn't born with her monstrous parts. Instead, she was experimented on as a child-transformed into a creature of both beauty and horror for the amusement of the circus's audiences. The glowing mark on her skin, once thought to be a gift, was a branding from the very people who had created her, marking her as an object to be displayed.
Torn between her desire to escape and the bond she shares with her fellow oddities, Iris begins to plan a daring escape. But the circus is more than just a place of exploitation; it's a world of manipulation, power, and dark secrets. With the help of herself, Iris must face the truth about her monstrous transformation and the man who holds their fates in his hands.
