I hadn't meant for it to happen. But intent didn't matter when the damage was already done. Emotions ran deep, tangled and unpredictable, and I was still fumbling to understand them. Everything felt too intense.

Was this what I truly wanted? 

I feel like I had ripped something fragile straight from her chest and crushed it. Her words replayed, "You don't understand what it feels like to stand there and watch the person you care about let someone else take what should've been yours."
