The 74th Hunger Games were unremarkable - no star crossed lovers, no interesting tributes. But next year was so much better.

For the Third Quarter Quell, the tributes are reaped from the existing victors. But there is no female victor for District Twelve.

As replacement, a random girl is picked to serve as tribute. Katniss Everdeen, an orphan who's only twelve years old, is called.

As an emaciated Seam girl, nobody expects her to make it past the bloodbath. The odds are not in her favour.

But when her district sends her away with the three-fingered salute, something unexpected happens.
