Jessica Marie Smith is an eighth-grade student at Nowheresville Middle. She has it pretty good--she's got loving parents, her best friend Maya, and her boyfriend, Dakota. What could possibly go wrong?

Plenty of things, apparently. On the day of Jess and Dakota's four-week anniversary, something happens--something that affects their relationship. But before Jess can really talk to Dakota about it, she goes on a trip to Somewheresville Academy, the fancy K-12 boarding school in the neighboring town to Jess', where she'll spend the next three months.

In Somewheresville, Jess meets plenty of people--new friends, new enemies, and...a new crush? Now she has to juggle her Dakota drama, her home away from home, and these newfound feelings for someone she never considered having feelings for.
