Short horror story slightly inspired by a dream I had, far from my best work but not the worst either.
It centers around David Smiths experience driving through the Rocky Mountains on his way home to visit his parents after his pa is recovering from a heart attack. Along the way he stops at a motel for the night but after the less than agreeable accommodations He spends the night along a lonely, horrifying road.

NIGHTHAWK: A Short Story.
Edward Anderson finds himself in yet another night with the same issue; he hasn't been able to sleep in weeks. Edward was a troublemaker yuppie with no purpose in his life. After an accident almost got him killed, back in his "previous life" as he calls it. Edward decides to move all by himself to Tallahassee in order to start over, leaving his sisters and mother with the doubt of whether or not he will be out of trouble. Times passes and he develops a severe case of insomnia. He finds himself wondering around in a rented place reading books, listening to music or whatever helps him to sleep, but he can't. Until one day he decides to drive around the city every single night until the break of dawn visiting the same places, the same beach, the same gas station over and over again without any success. Edward's fate changes forever when he finds an old house in a quiet neighborhood where he suspects something very strange and disturbing is going on in there. "Nighthawk" is a story of solitude, a story of how difficult it is to leave the past and change for the better.
