Realms - Book One

Liryn's always been a bit odd. She's barely ever been outside, is obsessed with dead animals, and collects strange items, which she always asks her parents to bring back when they leave. Bones and shiny trinkets aren't uncommon where Liryn lives---from the stories her parents tell her, they've found all sorts of weird things within their massive wooded property, ranging from bathtubs to abandoned altars, to animal skulls and the occasional cryptid. One day, she gets tired of not having the freedom of adventure and exploration she desperately longs for, gets too curious about the outside world, and sneaks out while her parents are asleep. She only plans to be out until just before dawn, but when she comes across a portal and falls through, that becomes impossible. Lost in an unfamiliar place so similar yet so different from her home, she faces life-threatening challenges, eventually stumbling into a camp full of people who gladly take her in, giving her food and shelter and helping her on her quest to open a new portal to get back home. Even though she may seem kind and helpful, something evil lurks deep inside her, waiting for the right moment to strike. Will she be able to destroy that part of herself and make it back home, or will she succumb to the darkness and become Corrupted like so many others before her?

By the way, this is a work-in-progress description and this is the first book I've ever written, so please bear with me.
