Tammie's gaze was cold. "And how could you possibly help me?"

"By giving you what you want."

She leaned back, arms crossed. "And what is it that I want?"

"To be part of the program at Halloway University," he said, his voice steady.

She narrowed her eyes. "How do you know about that?"

"I have my ways. I can use them to get you what you need-all I ask is for a little help in return."

"And who says I want your help?" Her voice was low, almost mocking. "I don't need it."

"Really? Seven years of trying, and all it's gotten you is playing nanny to the rich. Isn't that what you do-take care of their children?"

Tammie's jaw tightened. "Hard work is better than cheating my way in using connections."

Damien smirked, leaning forward. "Hard work? That's meaningless in the face of money and power. Everything in this world is give and take."

"Excuse me," she snapped, standing. "I have to leave."

"Why?"

"Because I won't waste another second talking to a prideful, self-absorbed dictator."
