Maddie didn't ask to be a science experiment, a weapon, or the latest "miracle" from a corporate lab with too much time and even more questionable ethics. She didn't ask to have her childhood swapped out for carefully constructed lies or to be frozen like leftovers in a fancy tube when she decided their plans weren't exactly her vibe. But here she is-defrosted, disoriented, and definitely not ready to play nice with the group of self-important council members poking her like she's some kind of wild animal.
Sure, Maddie has questions. Like, why does everything smell like metal? Who decided she'd make a great babysitter for 100 juvenile delinquents? And why does everyone look at her like she's about to sprout fangs? (Okay, fair-she did bite one of the guards, but that was totally justified.)
Thrown into a world that's somehow even more broken than the one she left, Maddie's trying to find her footing without tripping over her past. She's not just a girl with a complicated history and some weird talents-she's also a survivor. And surviving this new world? That might just be her toughest challenge yet.
