Elvira has never let the rules of magic define her. She's always pushed beyond the boundaries of arcane magic to create forbidden spells. But when her latest hex goes terribly wrong, she's taken to the Night Council -- where she discovers a terrible secret lurking.

The Night Council wants to take away the power of all darkfolk and keep it under their control. All that power only available for their use. Elvira, of course, will not allow this to happen - but no one else seems any interested in stopping the Night Council.

Which means she has to do it, but it can't be done alone. And so Elvira makes a blood debt with the one person strong enough to take down the Council and let dark magic stay free. A supernatural declared wanted by the Council themselves, a notorious outlaw and a banished Vampire.
