17 year-old Eleanor Dinah isn't a normal teenager. She has a huge secret. She is actually a spy who takes down Paranormals. She recently lost her partner, Cody. Enter Ben, who is charming, brave, nice, cute, reckless, and British. He becomes her new partner. El is afraid of letting him in for fear of becoming to close and Ben getting killed. A vampire named Damon killed Cody and is after her to finish what he started. Ben and her friends try to protect her but at what cost? El finds out secrets that should have been kept hidden, friendship is tested in the strongest way possible, she is betrayed by people she never thought possible, finds love, experiences heartbreak, and discovers people that should have been dead.

It comes to me so quickly, I just lost Cody, my best friend and he is never coming back. Going to his funeral only made it more real.
Barry comes up to me and pulls me into a tight yet comforting hug. Wiping a few tears that I didn't noticed escaped since I was too busy thinking about Cody.
"El, what can I do? I can't stand seeing you like this." he says softly.
"He was all I had and now he is gone." I choked out and to get myself together. I hated crying in front of people. It made me feel weak.
"I'm alone," I finally whisper softly.
Barry looks down at me and leans down to my ear and quietly whispers
"I will never leave you. El. I'm here for you and your my best friend! I'm not going to abandon you now! Me, Bruce, and Hal will be with you every step of the way, just please don't shut us out! Please. El, look at me," he says while taking my face so I am looking up at him
"I promise, you are never alone."

I was walking to the grocery store when I thought some one was following me I turned around and saw no one there so I brushed it off by the way my name is Lara and I was being followed by someone my whole life! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I WAS about to turn the corner when someone grabbed me and used their hands to cover mt mouth. I struggled and managed to push the person off and started sprinting down the street, yelling 'HELP'. I turned back to get a glance at the man who attacked me. I saw his face and it was Der!!! "What the hell Derek!"I shouted " I was scared shit-less that it was a kidnapper or murderer or gang member" It was NYC, who knew what happens at night and what kind of dangerous people are out there. "Shh"he said and covered my mouth. I bit his hand and he removed his hand from my mouth. "Ah, what was that for?" he yelled, his eyes getting darker as he pouted and rubbed his hand. "I don't know what you're up to but you're so being dumped"I told him. He was acting crazy and it was driving me insane because he wasn't telling me anything. He growled and ran towards him with his hands out wide to try and grab me, but I turned and kicked him in the leg as he fell to the ground. "Ha take that I took karate" I said proudly as he was groaning. I was a black belt student. I started sprinting when I turned the corner I saw Derek again with his eyes as dark as the night sky. What happened to his blue eyes?! "But you w-we-were- right there and n now you're here what? and w what happened to your eyes?"I kept stuttering. Wanting to be a superhero and becoming one, are two completely different things. But becoming the opposite? That's way easier. And sometimes it's not on purpose. Fate didn't want me to be a hero. I was a fairly normal girl, growing up in Central City. A city where superheroes and super villains didn't exist... until the particle accelerator exploded. Many people were turned into these metahumans, me being one of them. Likely one of the only changed nine year olds at the time. I felt my jaw clench in anger and my fist flex in readiness as I stared off in the distance, trying to control my anger from making me lash out. However, I couldn't control myself.
