||| "Let me ask you this..." I mutter, the lounge echoing with my sudden words but filled with thick silence again.

Zayn's gaze fixed on me, his eyes looking directly into mine. Holding the glass loosely, he takes it up to his lips for a sip. After what felt like minutes he finally spoke.

"Go on, ask me." He leans against the bar counter, getting closer to the light, exposing his sharp features.

My mind had gone blank. I couldn't think of a sentence to sum up all of what I was thinking, just one word. "Why?" I spoke, starting to fidget with my water bottle, awaiting his answer.

"Why not?" He says, smirking into the glass before sipping more. Setting down his drink he pushes himself up from the bar, walking up to me, filling the long distance between us. |||
