Angela knows she is going to break up with her unreliable boyfriend, Sean, but she's waiting until after the holidays. Her friend Lucy, struggling in a relationship with her new boyfriend, Tim, believes any time, even the month of December is the perfect time for a breakup if things aren't going well. They make a pact: if Lucy can end things with Tim by month's end, Angela will follow suit with Sean. Lucy, accepting the challenge after being let down too many times, navigates holiday festivities while trying to break up with Tim, who is intent on strengthening their relationship, especially when he finds out bringing a girlfriend to the company party on December 30th could help him earn a promotion.
