Unnerved by the drastic change in personality, and, though unwilling to admit it, worried for the slightly younger boy, Lan Zhan gets his father and brother to convince the Jiang clan to let them take Wei Wuxian back to the Cloud Recesses, under the pretence of having him attend more training, as an official Disciple in a few more months. The Jiang clan eagerly agreed, as such an opportunity was ra early given. Lan Zhan soon realizes, however, that Wei Wuxie went through far more than he was telling anyone, and that, just perhaps, Lan Zhan may be beginning to feel attracted to the boy. The Wens were trying hard to close Gusu Academy and build a resort there. When the CEO, Wen Chao sets up a fire to try and destroy the Gusu Library Wei Wuxian is the loudest voice of protest. That results in his home, Lotus Pier being auctioned and his adoptive family bankrupt. Lan Zhan must find a way to save his mate without scaring or scarring him.
