She had been struggling to cope with the stress of her job and the lingering emotional scars of a past relationship. Her best friend, Rachel, had convinced her to seek professional help.

"As Alex flipped through a worn copy of People magazine, the door to the office opened, and a tall, dark-haired man with piercing blue eyes and a charming smile greeted her.
