"I don't want to die on my last mission," I muttered, fully aware that the choice I was about to make could lead me directly to my death.

His response was a dry chuckle, devoid of warmth, yet tinged with a grim sense of understanding. "You won't," he assured me. "I know you. You're the only one who can do this. No one is as good as you." His words, though meant as a compliment, felt like a double-edged sword.

Taking a deep breath, I steadied my resolve. "Alright," I replied, my voice tight with determination. "But I will leave this field after this mission." The statement hung in the air like a warning, a promise to both myself and him that I would no longer be bound by this dangerous life once it was.
