Thirteen year old April Herek is the daughter of Stephen Herek. With her father, they both create and shoot the film "The Mighty Ducks", which is based off the sport she plays, hockey. She only has one best friend, Josh Jackson, who tries out for one of the parts. 

On her way, she meets new friends and falls in love with one of them. This is a years time of living on the set and having to be with the same people. Some drama kicks in, too.
