Everyone's heard of that one person who never speaks but is fully capable of doing so. Everyone's heard that people do it because of traumatic events, that sometimes they even do it for attention. That's not always true. For thirteen-year-old Alex, it isn't. Alex Rangel has moved six different times in her short lifespan. Six different schools, eight different grades. Why? Her family always thinks they've found a better home whether it be cheaper, closer to the city, farther from the city, closer to a school. This time it's the latter. She has just moved into a medium sized, one floor plus basement house that is bigger than her last. The problem? She's moving away from her old friends and home. She loves woods but this new place has literally twenty times less acres. This new school is bigger and apparently better education, but one of her old friends reported that it's full of jocks and brats, known from personal experience. So, you know it's close to her old school? Yeah, it is, but that just makes it worse. Her friends are so close but so far away and her parents would never let her visit some of them, just because of the mileage it would put on their vehicles. Plus a few of them probably wouldn't be approved by her parents, but that's not the point. She's decided that she's given up on making new friends and she's going to keep her old ones by whatever means possible. She doesn't want to forget them, doesn't want to replace them. Alex has decided that she is going to become mute at home and school. She's angry with her parents for doing this, angry with herself for leaving. So she's going to fight back in her own way. The way her old friends loved and the way these new people won't like. All Rights Reserved
