Isobel, you didn't walk or tip toe into my life, you crashed into it without warning, without brakes, full speed. Bright, electric, impossible to ignore. I still remember hearing your laughter carry through the air, sharp and untamed, cutting through the dull hum of the crowd. You were so much more than I could ever imagine and so much less than you were supposed to be.
Your voice was full of energy, every word a dare. "Come on, Norris", you said, the first time we met, you big, beautiful eyes daring me to say no. I never said no. I couldn't.
You didn't just exist, you exploded in every room, into every quiet moment, like you were afraid to leave space for silence. Back then, I thought you were just wild, fearless, full of life. I didn't realise that you were running, trying to outpace something I couldn't see.
Now I can't stop seeing it
*Please note, this is a sequel to One Song. You don't necessarily need to read that one first. But I do recommend it.*
