Shadows of Tomorrow

Aleysa Mazurenko, a 14-year-old Russian-American freshman, is living in a world that seems to grow more uncertain each day. Struggling with type 1 diabetes and celiac disease, she faces the challenges of being a teenager with medical conditions that require constant attention and care. When she moves from Russia to the United States, she's hopeful for a fresh start at an alternative school, where she can focus on her love for ice skating and carve out a life for herself.

But everything changes when D.T, known here as "Vincent Trier," wins the presidential election. As the next four years unfold, Aleysa finds herself living in a country she feels increasingly disconnected from, under a president whose views clash with everything she believes in. With her medical conditions and her place in the LGBTQIA+ community, Aleysa is forced to navigate the turmoil of the next four years while struggling with her own identity and the state of the world around her.

Her new life becomes a battle for self-acceptance, love, and survival in a country that seems to be spiraling into chaos. As she faces the intense pressure of growing up in a divisive political climate, Aleysa must find the strength to stay true to herself and push through the barriers that threaten to define her future.
