Etta has never felt like things are the way they are supposed to be. In the settlement, they choose what you study, who you love, how you serve the whole. Etta's skin is green, which means she should be calm. Your soul color tells you what your temperament should be. But Etta is not calm. She's angry and frustrated and struggling to figure out why her world can't accept her as she is.
The disease changed the world. The settlement cut the world off to keep itself safe. Etta thinks she understands everything. But when she meets Matt, a red, she discovers that the settlement may be hiding more than meets the eye...and maybe her utopia is more corrupt than it appears.
