Psychomachy; derived from the Greek words "psyche" (soul) and "machia" (battle or conflict). Refers to the internal conflict or struggle within a person, often between opposing forces like good and evil, virtue and vice, and reason and desire.
Ember Grey has only ever lived by two rules: survive and protect your family-lessons that become vital when the world as you know it falls apart. But in a shattered society, family isn't just blood anymore; it's the people you'd risk everything for and who would do the same for you. When the line between right and wrong blurs, only one question remains: how far will you go to make it out alive?
***This is my very first story, I know it can be slow at times, and sometimes I might linger on some aspects some people deem unnecessary, but I love character building and world building. And as slow as some scenes may be, the ones with action pack a punch. Please give this story a shot, I have pretty cool plans laid out for it!***
Note: many deaths that happen in the show don't happen in this fic, therefore, the plot can be very different at times. There are heavy subjects in this story, such as domestic violence and abuse, neglect, some mentions of sexual harassment or abuse-though these scenes are not described in detail-and obviously gore and death. There is also depiction of alcohol and drug consumption. ALSO: my timeline is going to be longer than it is in the show, especially when the group gets to the prison

(Based on the show "The Walking Dead") Serina Rose Williams lives a very mundane and happy life. She lives with her motherly sister Lori, overprotective brother in law Rick, and adorable nephew Carl. If it were up to her, she would want to live her whole life like this, happy and close with her family. However, it would appear that life seemed to have other plans for her. for she receives news that the only brother she has in her life, Rick was shot in the line of duty , and had entered a comatose state. Heartbroken, and grief stricken, Serina is not at all prepared when the world decides to end, only three months later. With no choice, Serina has to leave the only home she's ever known, and flee the city along with her sister, nephew, and her brother in law's best friend. They set up camp and try their best to live a peaceful life whilst the world as they know it, succumb to the walking dead. Serina must accept the rules of survival in this new world, while trying to protect her family, and withholding the morals she had in her owl world. She must soon come to terms with the fact that in this new world, it's kill or be killed, something the gentle-hearted girl must overcome, before the new world ends up breaking her. A love story between Rick, Daryl and my character. It's an equal shared love; sorry, there won't be love triangle drama. Character development is normal person change. She doesn't just start all badass ready to end all like a lot of other ones I've read. She's naturally a cocky sweet person, so that's how she starts; how she ends up being towards the end is very different. I had only seen maybe three poly ones, so I figured why not give it a try could be fun. This is a polyamorous (polyandry) book, so don't act blindsided. There will be violence and death and all things that come with the walking dead. There are also very mature scenes for 18+: Drug and alcohol use, sex, launguage, sexual assault, graphic violence. I follow the storyline but not closely. I change things and kill/keep characters the show has done differently. Now that all being said... I do not own any of AMC's The walking dead characters, plots, locations, or anything pertaining to The Walking Dead series, nor do I claim them. My added characters are my own. The world is known to be shit. Ever since human race was born on earth the world has been horrible with murderers, liars, thieves, rapists, cowards and abusers. The only thing that tried to control this was the law and even if this people still existed there was a punishment if caught, so it was mostly under control after all. Until law became nothing. With the start of the outbreak anarchy reigned and this horrible people from being only the 10% or 15% of the whole population, they became more and more everyday, until almost every survivor became all this horrible things to survive. But not everyone was a horrible person or at least tough at the start of this, an example? Dafne Peletier, sister of Ed Peletier and sister in law of Carol Peletier. Over the course of the 11 years of a normal life, Ford had he had been reported missing nearly 13 times and ran away from home, the longest span of time being 3 weeks, nearly a month. He's been out hunting with both his brothers. Normally hiding away in the woods until his brothers found him.
