Hope's family and josie family were very close until hope and josie got in a big augment and it all ended. Both sets of parents still talk to each other without the girls knowing.
One day the families had enough and made a plan to get the girls to be friends again called the tutor plan.

To begin with hope and Landon are together but it's a toxic relationship sorry if your fan of them together. In the relationship he hits hope and tries to have sex with her. And she trapped in the relationship because he'll hurt josie and she wants to protect her
Caroline and stefan are married and stefan is josie and lizzies dad and caroline is their mum.
