Jane, a seemingly normal highschooler, has long learnt to go by each day, with her four rules,

Never look in the mirrors or a corner too long
Never chant anything with any ancient vocabulary
Never be alone at a place where she gets the vibe of something bad happened long ago
Never try to check something she saw in the corner of her eye in a moment

These rules have kept her safe since she discovered that she can see both those who once walked this earth and those who never did, but when the only person she ever felt something for other than her family is about to visit a place on a dare, a place which happens to be haunted by a real malevolent spirit, she decides to intervene, thus beginning the start of something she always wanted to avoid.

My eyes were literally glowing, there was no mistaking it. It was not a reflection of light, or any of the other excuses I had used or others had assumed. They were glowing a light sapphire blue color. It was not a bright glow, but it was definitely a glow. Glowing eyes were not normal. Okay, at this point I had to admit it, I was no longer normal.
