Amelia. Normal college student, at VisualArts Academy. An illustration student. This story is about a girl being able to travel through time but pays the price for every time she goes back in time. This takes place at the VisualArts Academy dorms. The fluorescent lights in Amelia's dorm room buzzed incessantly as she hunched over her illustration board, her fingers smudged with charcoal. Another failed attempt at capturing the perfect line weight. She glanced at her phone - 2:47 AM. The final portfolio review was in six hours, and she had nothing worthy of showing."Just one more try," she whispered, closing her eyes. The familiar tingling sensation started at her fingertips, spreading up her arms like pins and needles. The world around her began to blur, colors swirling together like wet paint on canvas. When everything settled, the digital clock on her desk read 10:23 PM.Four hours gained, but at what cost? Amelia's hand flew to her hair, finding the streak of gray that hadn't been there moments before. Each jump backward aged her a little more - a cruel trade of time for time. She'd promised herself she wouldn't use her ability for something as trivial as schoolwork again, but desperation had a way of breaking promises. With trembling fingers, she picked up her charcoal and started again. This time, she wouldn't waste the hours she'd bought with years of her life.
