Although Little Kee is a small town, Little Kee is supposed to feel like a home where everyone knows everyone, where you wave at your neighbor and they ask how your grandmother is doing like it's their goddamn business. But for me? Nah. It's not home at all. Not even close. It is just a boring, unwelcoming place. I don't know what it is. Maybe it's the way news travels faster than the wind or how people talk more behind each other's backs than to their faces. I have never liked that. It makes me feel... somehow exposed, like I cannot make a mistake without someone turning it into a town event. It's like this place wears its coziness like a mask and underneath it just feels suffocating. I guess that is a weird way to start or maybe I am the weird one. I've heard people say that before, not always to my face, but I have caught the looks. Whatever. Call me what you want to call me. I don't care.
