"Mr. Talis, bored already?" Viktor asked, his tone dry but laced with the faintest trace of amusement.
Jayce grabbed a chair from the back with an ear-splitting scrape of metal on tile, the sound grating against Viktor's nerves. Viktor visibly flinched, cringing at the noise. The class burst into laughter at the reaction, while Jayce offered a sheepish grin, clearly unapologetic. He flopped into the chair, sprawling in a lazy posture that made it seem like he belonged here.
"Had a free period," Jayce said with a shrug, his voice light and breezy. He propped his head on his hand, his grin widening. "And I'm always fascinated by science."

She/her reader. You are a young journalist from Zaun, working for The Piltover Globe. You witnessed the explosion of Jayce's lab from your friend's apartment. Your redaction board asks you to investigate on the matter, while the Academy tries to hide as much info as possible. But in a way or another, you meet Viktor, and a few things you did not even expect start to unravel. TW anxiety (mild but still)/death/mourning The "Fringes" idea is not mine, it comes from @Berserkitty and their wonderful fanfic "Undercity Development Section" (I'm sure you read it, if you haven't please do, it's fantastic). I imagine Y/N to be around 24/25, same age as Viktor in season 1 but that's purely personal projection, feel free to change that in your head ! Usual thing: English is not my first language and I tried to make the story as accessible as possible. Please, pleaaase tell me if I made any typos, if some sentences do not feel right or anything, I want to make the smoothest experience as possible for you readers. Viktor woke up to a bang. Jayce was at the front door, smeared blood on his cheeks as if he had tried wiping it away. "Jayce?" Viktor asked, walking closer. "What happened? Did you walk back here? Where's the car? Where were you?" Viktor rambled, worriedly rushing over. Jayce was crying. He stood still, sniffling as tears fell down his frozen cheeks. Viktor tried touching him, but his hand went right through. His face dropped as he watched Jayce, who finally spoke. "I'm so sorry," Jayce whispered. "I'm trying so hard. I'll be home soon." "Sorry? For what? What did you do? And what do you mean you're trying? How long is soon!?" Viktor's questions sounded more like pleas as he desperately tried to hang onto Jayce, fingers slipping past the blue hue covering him. "I love you, Viktor." Jayce's body slowly faded away. "Jayce?
